About A Guy Called Gerald
A Guy Called Gerald, real name Gerald Simpson, is a British electronic musician from Manchester. He was an early member of 808 State and contributed to their debut album and the classic track 'Pacific State'.
His own biggest moment came with 'Voodoo Ray' in 1988 — a house track that became one of the defining records of the acid house era. It reached Number 12 in the UK charts and is still played in clubs today. He followed it with more electronic and drum and bass work through the 90s.
He's been making music for over 35 years and is respected as a pioneer of British dance music.
