About Adam Ant

Adam Ant was one of the biggest British stars of the early 1980s. Born Stuart Goddard in London, he formed Adam and the Ants in 1977 and created a sound that mixed punk energy with Burundi drum beats and pirate swagger.

Their big breakthrough came in 1980 with 'Kings of the Wild Frontier'. The singles 'Antmusic' and 'Dog Eat Dog' were huge. Adam Ant had a look that was impossible to ignore — pirate shirt, white stripe across the nose.

His biggest solo hit was 'Stand and Deliver' in 1981, which spent five weeks at Number 1. 'Prince Charming' and 'Goody Two Shoes' followed. For that golden period from 1980 to 1983, Adam Ant was untouchable.
