The Distillers came to be when Aussie vocalist Brody Dalle teamed up with guitarist Rose Mazzola, bassist Kim Chi, and drummer Matt Young in L.A.

in 1998, nailing together a street-punk sound that resonated with misfit kids in the SoCal scene.

They signed to Epitaph imprint Hellcat, releasing a self-titled debut in 2000.
