About Emiliana Torrini
With an airy, agile voice that seems to float above the clouds, singer/songwriter Emiliana Torrini brings a sense of wonder to her ethereal blend of trip-hop, soft rock, and indie folk.
Born in Iceland in 1977, Torrini studied opera as a teenager and became a successful covers artist in her home country before dropping her first international release of originals in 1999 with the moody downtempo collection Love in the Time of Science.
With its orchestra-infused electronic production, the album inevitably drew comparisons to the output of fellow countrywoman Björk and also got the attention of director Peter Jackson, who recruited Torrini to sing the angelic end-credits epic “Gollum’s Song” for his 2002 film, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
