An electro-pop act whose flamboyant looks are matched by their irresistible hooks, the British duo Goldfrapp have been cult favorites since their formation in 1999.
Alison Goldfrapp had appeared on songs by dance-music stars like Orbital and Tricky during the ’90s; in 1999, she met composer Will Gregory and they clicked instantly.
Their debut full-length, Felt Mountain, came out in 2000, and its expansive definition of dance music—which included folk and cabaret—thrilled critics.
