M83

Taking their name from a galaxy 15 million light-years from Earth, M83 revels in the power of big synths and even bigger feelings.

Led by the 1980-born French composer and songwriter Anthony Gonzalez, the electronic band started in 2001 in Antibes and has since explored the power of romance and nostalgia in high-gloss pop anthems, shoegaze-textured soundscapes, and understated movie scores.

Originally a duo featuring Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau, M83 first got attention in indie circles for the tenderness of their 2003 album, Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts.
