Wedding Present

The Wedding Present were cult heroes of the ’80s/’90s UK indie-pop scene, retaining their edge even after making the jump to the major-label world.

Singer/guitarist David Gedge and bassist Keith Gregory started the band in 1985 in Leeds, England, as a continuation of their previous group, The Lost Pandas.

From the start, their sound was based around an amiable-but-insistent, four-on-the-floor feel that seemed equally inspired by post-punk and The Velvet Underground, with Gedge exploring romantic complications like an alt-rock psychologist.
